PHILOSOPHY OF THE WEST BRIDGEWATER

INTEGRATED PRESCHOOL

The philosophy of the Integrated Preschool is that every child can learn if he/she is met at his/her own level of development, with appropriate teaching techniques.  Therefore, we strive to meet each child at that level, provide appropriate materials and offer teacher support to help her/him reach the highest level of development possible

We believe that children learn best from each other.  When provided with a trusting, nurturing environment, children accept their peers as their equals.  Children naturally help each other and teach each other.  Children encourage each other to try things that are difficult.  All children are constantly growing socially, emotionally, physically, and academically.

We believe that children learn best when actively interacting with their environment.  When building with blocks, mixing colors together, playing in the sand table, working in the writing center, pretending, role playing, speaking, listening, trying to understand numbers and their values, beginning to associate letters and their names, and remembering, children develop a readiness for future school success.
