Accreditation and the Integrated Preschool
Information for Parents
The Integrated Preschool has been Accreditated by NAEYC since January 1998 (we have gone through the process twice). The whole process of Accreditation and ReAccreditation has just been completely revamped by NAEYC. The original Accreditation Process was launched in the 1980s, as a way for parents to identify programs that were good quality. Since 2002, NAEYC has been working to reinvent the process, to fulfill their vision, which is: “To establish NAEYC Accreditation as a leading force for enhancing children’s well-being and early learning by improving the quality of early childhood programs serving children birth through kindergarten.”
We are just beginning the process of ReAccreditation in the Integrated Preschool. The process will take over a year. It is a way for us to honestly look at our program: identify strengths, weaknesses, involve parents more in the program, and identify ways to further align our program with the Standards of NAEYC.
As a part of this self-study process, we need and want parent input. We are asking for your input two ways: a parent survey and a parent meeting. Both of these are important ways to support and improve the Integrated Preschool.
